BG actually had a better game than you might have thought...ending up at only -1, despite some pretty bad gaffes.  Of course, a missed XP is only -1, even THAT missed XP.  The ICSTR is a stickler.

What is this...

So, when I was doing the last special teams review, I developed a theory. That theory was that it isn't the small yardage differences that you are really worried about. If you typically have 35 net yards on a punt, you don't really care if it is 31 or 39. What matters is when it is 20 or 50, or when a game changing play (touchdown, turnover, block) occurs.  Whole scoring system is here.

So....

BG had positive plays...a 61 yard punt, a kickoff return to their own 44, a 55 yard punt to the 2 (+2), a 60 yard punt, a kickoff return to the BG 43.

That's +6, with 4 of the points attributable to our punted.

Negative plays were a fumble on a kickoff (-3), a blocked field goal (-3), and a missed XP.  That's -7, for a net of -1.

Wyoming, on the other hand, was +7, which was the best performance going back 8 games by a BG opponent.

Wyoming had positive plays....a punt to the BG 17, a recovered fumble (+3), a blocked FG (+3), a 48 yard net punt, a punt downed on the 11 and a blocked XP (+10)

On the negative side, they gave up the BG kO returns to the 44 and 43 and missed a 37 yd FG.

And that's +7.
