Football Verbal for '16: Grant Coffey

So, BG has an additional verbal for the class starting this fall...he's DE/OLB Grant Coffey, who played recently with the West LA City College, in Culver City, CA.  He's 6'2" and 250 lbs, and played mostly DE and some LB last year.

From JC Football.com
As a sophomore this past season for West Los Angeles, Coffey used his quick first step and natural pass-rushing abilities to post 38 tackles, two sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss while playing mostly defensive end, but also rotating in at linebacker as well.
He had an offer from Wyoming, strong interest from Southern Miss and Kansas State had asked for his transcripts.  He's from Culver City originally, and had signed with DII Western New Mexico, where he immediately felt out of place.  He says he had a scholarship offer from Northern Colorado, but decided to go to JUCO, refine his skills and shoot higher, which he did.  (The article says he has graduated from JUCO).

This is one of those off-season things that is under the radar but could be really big.  BG REALLY needed a guy like this.  Any quality depth on the D-line is vital to our ability to continue the high level of success we are thankful to have become used to.

Here's a quote you might enjoy:
"I can do it all, but attacking the quarterback is what I love to do,"

Update:  (H/t to Ken).  Welcome to the Falcons, Grant.
