Depth Chart, Jones POW! and one other note...
The depth chart is out....besides putting an "OR" between Tate and Stein at kicker, things are pretty much status quo. The only real change is that true freshman Mike Minns is now on the depth chart at NT, replacing Jarius Campbell, who was injured at UT. Falcon Fodder reports he is out for Virginia Tech and after that his return is an unknown. This is a position already hampered by the loss of Darius Gilbert and the injury to Hunter Maynard. Minns is a big guy, but how ready he is to be in the rotation had been demonstrated in game play. The other D-tackle backup is a walk on, so the rotation is getting a little soft.
Here's what Coach Clawson said in Falcon Fodder.
“[This injury] is not good for us," coach Dave Clawson said. "Jairus is having a great year. He’s a great kid that’s worked very hard and he’s overcome injuries in the past. We’re going to have to have somebody step up. He’s one of our best players, so it’s tough losing him.”
For the second week in a row, Chris Jones was named the MAC East Player of the week. He had a big week against UT and I believe is a very solid contender for the MAC Defensive Play of the the Year.
Now, one other item of note. The HS Coach at Ft. Wayne's Bishop Luers was fired suddenly last weekend, right in the early part of the season. He won three straight state titles and coached BG FR. QB James Knapke and verbal WR Mike Rogers. No one appears to be saying what happened, but it appears he ran afoul of his bosses.
