The Eagles/Hurons
A quick note to muse on the program at EMU.
Eastern is one of those teams....I'm always thinking they are turning the corner but they never seem to do it. In fact, at least from what we have seen this year, they are actually worse than they were last year.
I like Eastern. They have a really good athletic program, except in football and men's basketball. Their coach is a former BG player. I think it would be good for the conference to see them do better.
They certainly suffer from living in the shadow of UM. The last two times I have been to games there they have had their huge stadium and a really sad showing of fans. Don't get me wrong--I admire the fans who are there. Its just a shame to have the big facility in D-IA football, and not to be involving more people.
Its even more a mystery in basketball, but I guess that's another story.
We have to be careful, because college football is so unpredictable. But, their body of work this year simply isn't that good.
To make matters worse, both of their QBs have bad shoulders and may or may not be able to play Saturday, and certainly won't be healthy. There aren't too many teams in the MAC who can go three deep at QB, and I assume Eastern isn't one of them.
They lost to UT and NIU by a composite score of 78-17, and both games were at home. Their only win is over Indiana State, a really poor team.
Anything could happen. But if we can do what we have done against Boise, Pitt, Minnesota and Wyoming, we should win this game.
