Football Gets New Coach and New Verbal

A couple of news items for football.

First, an interesting hire for the WR position and pass game coordinator.  His name is David Cooney and he comes from the Other Miami, where he has been since 2017.  For the last two years, he was a WR analyst and the three before that he was recruiting coordinator.

Prior to Miami, Cooney coached at the high school level, serving as offensive coordinator for the Miami Southridge Spartans, who won the 2016 8A state championship under his guidance.  He worked legendary Miami-area high school coach Billy Rolle, who won three state championships with three different schools.

There's a site that indicates that Cooney was a key right-hand man to Christobel.

I can't anything about where he played college or high school...but my impression is that this is the first Coach we have gotten from outside the immediate Loeffler career orbit.  I have made no secret of saying that we need a shakeup on the offensive side of the ball and this might be it.  He also (or perhaps more importantly) appears to be a recruiting asset.

The verbal is for '26 and is our second.  Just like the first, this young man is an EDGE from Cincinnati...this time from Princeton. His name is Jacob Broach, he's 6'5" and 220...and BG was his first offer.  Beyond that, there is not a lot of information on him....which is only relevant now.  The future is wide open.

Welcome to the Falcons, David and Jacob.

UPDATE:  More on Cooney.  This is where we win, with players and coaches.  Getting guys on the way up.
