Falcons Get Walk On QB Commit

Based on this article from PA, BG has a preferred walk-on QB heading to the Doyt for the Fall.  His name is Tanner Garry (he is not, repeat NOT, the guy from the Bad News Bears) and he was a top-flight HS QB and wrestler at Fort Cherry HS, which is near Pittsburgh.  He is a coach's son....other stuff...

He guided the Rangers into the WPIAL Class A quarterfinals and their first postseason victory since 2003. He passed for 2,171 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 703 yards and 12 scores.

Garry will graduate with Fort Cherry records in career passing yards (4,502) and touchdowns (50). He rushed for 1,223 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was coached by his father Tim Garry, and played alongside his cousin Corey Garry. At Fort Cherry, the football field is named after his grandfather, Jim Garry.

According to the article, if he improves and shows potential he will be in line for a scholarship after he redshirts next year.  He did have a number of FCS and DII offers, but wanted to play in the FBS.  "If you can throw, you can throw," he said.

I don't think you hurt yourself with a guy like this.  You never know what a guy can turn into when given the chance.  And from his perspective, he can always transfer after a couple of years to a FCS or DII school.

check out his you tube video high school trick shot quarterback. I hope he wins a spot and develops into a falcon quarterback . He seems to have a good arm and is not afraid to run. He also has video of high school games on you tube I hope he gets his chance as a walk on.We need a quarter back like Northern or Western Michigan , they add another dimension to an offense.

I'm not going to disagree about the need for a running QB...we seem to be willing to just concede that part of the game, and Harnish and Tettleton were very tough to stop.
