Recruiting Roundup....
I have been tracking our verbals as they play their senior year in HS. I always mean to get to it more, but I never seem to find the time. So, with a longer break between the two games, I thought I would give it a run...remembering that BG only has 11 verbals and a bunch of them are lineman, who don't get the headlines or the stats that other players do.
Coy Brown had 97 yards on 12 carries for his team last Friday, which is now 8-3. It seems as if he projects to LB at BG.
WR James White of Detroit Crockett caught a decisive 72 yard TD pass in a first round state playoff game. Crockett is 9-1 and QB'd by UT verbal Brian Blackburn.
QB James Knapke, our highest ranked verbal via ESPN, has had a huge season. His team is on the run for another state title. He threw for 1,526 yards and 21 TDs. He was named All-Conference. The team is 10-1 and ranked first in their division in the State of Indiana.
This Mlive story claims that Tyler Goble is averaging 9.5 sacks "per game" but I'm going to guess they don't mean that. Here, however, is what his coach said and presumably means.
“Tyler Goble is where our defense starts,” Sawchuk said. “Our defense goes when he goes. He knows the check downs and formations out on the field. He’s a real student of the game.”OL Ben Steward from the Lansing area is leading his team to a very strong running attack.
DL JJ Beggan of the Pittsburgh area is part of a very productive defensive line combo. Says his coach...
"Those two guys are effective at eating up blockers, and that's been allowing our linebackers Nick Sywyj [6-0, 190, Jr.] of Brookline and Jamie Miller [6-0, 215, Sr.] of South Side to make a lot of tackles."
