A troubled opponent (again)

For the second week in a row, the Falcons will play a team that is troubled by their loss the week before.  According to this in the Record Pub, things are not happy in the Flash Nation.

There is a lot of vitriol for the second half collapse at the Glass Bowl. In this sense, of course, no more than if the same thing had happened to our team or any team, but still....

The players and coaches had to watch it over and over again as they studied film, forced to re-live all of the missed opportunities in a loss that dropped their record to a disappointing 2-4.

Beyond that, a fifth-year senior, Kirk Belgrave, took a personal foul penalty that extended a UT scoring drive, and he may not play this week. Says Doug Martin...

“I talked with Kirk (Sunday) and there will be more addressing that with him, possibly (going) as far as not playing him this Saturday,” said Martin. “That one bothers me.

NO RUSH TO JUDGMENT

Just because the University of Minnesota fired its coach this week, don’t expect Kent State to make a similar mid-season move just because the Flashes are off to a disappointing start.

“We are only halfway through the year,” KSU athletic director Joel Nielsen said on Monday. “There are very few (schools) around the country that would be doing personnel evaluation throughout the year. It’s a little early for that. We will look at the season as a whole as an entire body of work and make decisions at that time.”
