Odds and Ends
A few odds and ends to wrap up the Kent victory.
Coach said in the postgame that we were passing a lot more than "anyone" wanted to. To illustrate this point, according to the BG News, Tyler Sheehan is on pace to set the all-time MAC record for passing events in a season. Think about MAC QBs, and digest that a little. I highly doubt if Coach Clawson expected that to be true when he signed on to coach the Falcons.
Freddie Barnes reiceiver some honors this week, including national WR of week.....and MAC Player of the Week/Offensive/East.
I think a lot of people thought Sheehan would end up as co-player, given as they both had record settings days, but Barnes apparently had the most impressive performance. I mean, he did end up 1 catch short of the NCAA record.
By the by, the BG news also reported that Freddie Barnes is on pace to break the NCAA single-season reception record of 142 by 8 catches. (1989 Manny Hazard Houston). (Today, by the way, Manny Hazard is a well-respected blogger and SEO consultant.)
I saw on twitter that the BG SID staff is calling the game Catch-22. Let's hope we don't ever have a Slaughterhouse 5.
I have been remiss in all my writing about the Kent game in not mentioning this....but Bowling Green did, for all the skill it showed, get an incredible bit of luck. When Kent made their last punt, Willie Geter fumbled the punt, and for about half a second, you could feel the acrid stench of disaster enter the air. But, the ball bounced directly into the arms of (who else?) Freddie Barnes. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Finally, the Falcons showed once again that they have a road field advantage, as they won a close game on the road after blowing numerous similar games at the Doyt. Luckily, we have the road field advantage working for us in Muncie, too.
