Road Streak is Historic

If you want one thing that has really changed for our team, it is that we are winning on the road. Halfway through the year, we hadn't done it at all, and now we have six straight road wins.

This is historic for our program. Only one team (the 2001-02 Kent squad) has ever won 7. It is our longest road winning streak in conference play ever, and our longest since, get this, 1948-49. That's pretty impressive.

In fact, our six road wins in the conference is the most (regardless of streak) since the 1982-83 team.

Again, this is the biggest change in our program. We were dropping tough road games through December and January, and against some pretty average teams, and with only one MAC road win last year, we just had a pretty poor track record in this respect.

Obviously, this has completely turned around. I don't know all the factors that go into winning on the road, and I certainly don't understand their relative importance. But, I do feel very strongly that believing you can do it is at least part of the battle. Yes, you are not at home, and yes, you might not get the calls, and yes, there is the crowd, but at some level you have to not have this voice screaming "we're going to lose" when the going gets tough.

Clearly, we've gotten rid of that.

I will tell you this. It has been years since I have been so jazzed for a couple Falcon hoops games like I am for the ones coming up.
