Dakich Reportedly Suspends Hamblet
According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Coach Dakich called the Coach of UWGB and told him that Ryne Hamblet would be suspended for throwing a punch during the game last week. I heard the incident on the radio, but Todd Walker was careful in describing it because I don't think he actually saw it. The upshot was that the UWGB player was knocked into the scorer's table, left the game with concussion symptoms, and Hamblet was called for an intentional foul.
The player has a history of concussions.
Coach Dakich reportedly said he had watched film and determined that Ryne had thrown a deliberate punch and would be suspended.
If he's right that the punch was deliberate--and I can only assume he's carefully reviewed the film--than this is one reason to like having Dakich @ BG.
Note in the article here the response of the UWGB coach to getting the phone call.
