Tulsa: Benchmark Report

Couple days more looking back at Tulsa.  We will start to look ahead to Kent on Wednesday.  Here is the benchmark report for the Tulsa game.  The benchmarks are from MAC play last year...MAC games only.  When something says adjusted, it means I have charged sacks against passing and not against rushing.

A few things jump out at me:
  • BG produces in the red zone while the defense has a red zone bagel.
  • Because our defense and special teams made big plays (fumble, stopped fake punt) our offense was able to generate points without being great.  When you get 10.7 yards per point, that's efficient.
  • Similarly, BG got a good amount of passing yards for a team that only completed 12 passes, but overall the passing game was pretty inefficient.
  • Tulsa ran a butt load of 3rd down plays....shows how effective our defense was.
  • Tulsa won't win a game all season when they are forced to only run 35% of the time.
  • Despite 34 points, the offense can still improve.  No part of the metrics were up to league standards.
