Permutations....
Its that time of year....how does all this sort out? What has to happen for BG to make the trip to Ford Field?
First, BG has control of its own destiny...if the Falcons win out then we are going to Ford Field.
Now, let's look at other possibilities.
We can eliminate one--BG cannot win with 3 losses.
Can BG make it with a loss to Ohio U?
The answer is yes...there is at least one possibility, which is a 3-way tie between BG, Kent and Miami at 6-2 with OU going 5-3. There may be others. However, this avenue closes if Kent beats Miami Saturday, so we need to keep a close eye on that one. (Basically, if Kent beats Miami and BG loses to OU and then BG beats Kent, then going to the last week Kent has 1 loss and BG 2. Kent would have to lose to OU, except that would mean OU is 6-2 as well and they beat BG and Kent and get the tiebreaker).
Can BG lose to Kent and win?
First, if Kent beats Miami and the beats us, it is over for us. If they lose to Miami and beat BG, there is a 4-way tie scenario at 6-2 that BG would prevail in based on head to head wins and there would be a three way (BG, OU and Kent...HOT!) where I think BG would also prevail due to the odd advantage of having one loss to the West.
For Falcon fans, I point you to two things....
We want Miami to beat Kent Saturday...
We are long shots with 2 losses under any scenario...
However, OU is not a MUST win game.
