The Drive for .500

For those of us who have followed the Reds this season, I think there was a common agreement that a .500 season would be a success. At one point, at 11 over .500, that looked pretty good. Right now, it doesn't look so good. So, what would have to happen.

The team is 62-67 right now, five games under. That's 129 games, with 33 left. We need 19 wins and 14 losses coming home to get to .500.

And, here's who we have left. (Looking worse, isn't it?)

Houston 6
Milwaukee 7
Pitt 6
Philly 3
Cubs 8
Atlanta 3

Let's try this scenario

Milwaukee 5-2
Pitt 4-2
Houston 3-3
Philly 2-1
Cubs 4-4
Braves 1-2

That gets you there--just. I'm guess we end up with about 78-79 wins. That's a tough closing schedule and against teams with something other than .500 to play for.
