Video replay of crucial Offensive INT call against Akron
As you know, BG had scored the tying TD against Akron when it was called back for offensive interference. Coach said yesterday on the radio that it was the kind of situation where "you let the kids decide it." Now, you can watch for yourself. This is a grainy replay from the webcast, which I watched. It looked to me like he pushed off or it isn't a catch, but you can decide for yourself.
On the other hand, look how much running room AT had!

Yeah, maybe he did push off a bit. I didn't see the defender move at all until I watched it there and really focused.
And you're right. AT might not have found the endzone, but with 15 seconds left and one man to beat, he sure as hell could have hit the first down and gotten OB.
Then again, if Ruiz just uses his height, it's a good throw. On fourth down, it's tough to tell. And that continues to be one thing I think AT is struggling with in his development. He's a mobile QB, but I think he's taken some heat for that, so he thinks pass first, second and sometimes third before scrambling, and it hurts him.
It is grainy but it also shows the DB had a hold of the receiver and was slowing him down. All the receiver did was break that hold. Should have been a no call, but that wasn't the way it went. This kind of chicken fighting was going on the whole game and was never called, why call it on the last play? And another thing from the game, why was the Akron player that threw a punch to the head of a BG player not ejected? It was blatant and out in the open for everyone to see. All 8k in attentance saw it.
