Lions List Garcia as Questionable

Lots of speculaton on mlive that Garcia is prepping his excuses for later. Never liked Garcia, not one bit. Glad to have him on my team, but I never liked him. Based on that, I guess you can think he might play, but he has to be able to move, or else he's no good to anyone. Killer is also speculating that Millen is letting Mooch hang himself with Garcia--and then Joey gets back in the mix under a new coach....is this the most screwed up organization in sports, or what?

Meanwhile, we signed LB Nate Wayne, a veteran with starting time, to a contract. Teddy Lehman won't play Sunday. Bell, DeVries, Holt, Rogers and both Williams' are questionable...OUCH! Dre Bly is out, too. We remain banged up, and we're playing an awful Viking team.

New Reds Owners

Carl Lindner is gone. The CEO is Robert H. Castellini, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Castellini Company. His family owned the team from the 60s-80s.

Blog ethics say you are supposed to add something to the conversation...so here you go. I'm glad Lindner is gone, I don't think he did anything for the team. I don't expect very much out of the next guy, either.

There's a lot of excitement at redszone.com, on this, and a lot of high hopes. Castellini is part owner of the Cardinals, considered a good model for building the Reds. They have many obstacles.

Oh, and no one on the board will support them if DanO isn't gone right away--and John Allen, too.

I'd be surprised if any radical moves are made.

Lions News...Garcia Out?

Thought we were catching a break with Daunte Culpepper out for the season? Not so fast, Garcia is not healthy and may not play. Hello, Joey.

Apparently, Mooch was forced to defend the WCO at his press conference. Killer's chat says that Shaun Rogers and Roy Williams would both try to practice this week, the Lions waived Jody Littleton and Glenn Martinez.

My comment:

If we can get it put together, Sunday is a very winnable game against a wounded team. And, if we can come out of all this shit, we could still put something together, make the playoffs and get hot. We need to get healthy. Can we survive our way to respectability?

Less message board fodder here than normal, but nothing interesting, either.

The mental state of the team....

"I think we are okay. Two disappointing home losses are going to take its toll, but the best thing we having going on is that we are still in the hunt. We need to go to Kent and get a "W". We need to prepare to win the game. We can't just think we are going to go to Kent, show up and beat them.

(Note: if our guys think they're going to show up and beat anyone, they're worse off than we feared.)

Painful detail on the interception...

"I think it just made him really mad. It wasn't completely his fault. On the play it was a sprint out to the right, but the snap was well behind him, so he had to take his eyes off the read. Once he got the snap the timing was out of whack. He looked out to throw the ball to the flat to Steve Sanders, who was wide open, and that is where the ball should have gone, but he couldn't see him. So he kept running and made an ill advised throw."

On our youth:

"We do have some great young guys that will be great for us next year. The tendency is to play those guys, but I don't want to. I want to red-shirt them. We are still good enough on both sides of the ball, including the injuries, to win games.

That's a big switch from saying coaching changes had trashed 3-5 years of recruiting.

On redshirts

I'm not willing to cash in the chips and burn guy's years. I am not going to sacrifice the farm. I am in it for the long haul.

That's a relief. At least he's not saying he's not redshirting guys so they can play for someone else.

Omar Back in Practice

Omar's back practicing, but still questionable for this week. Maureen Fulton of the Blade correctly surmises that this is, at least, a good sign for Miami and UT.
