OU Preview

All right, so into MAC play we go.  It doesn't start out easy... it's Ohio U, last year's Champion, and still a very good team.  They beat WVU, pushed Rutgers to the limit, and even drew OSU's notice in the Shoe before losing.

They are a little different this year.  Last year, they were #2 in the MAC in scoring and #1 in scoring defense.  This year, they are #2 in offense and #6 in defense, as you will see below.

I admire them because of their success across coaches...similar to a string NIU had.  Solich created the culture, but the team continued through to Albin, who won 64% of his games and left for Charlotte on the bus heading home from the bowl game.  Still hiring from within, Brian Smith is coach now.

They know who they are.  They have a highly effective dual-threat QB, an RPO game plan and the conference's top WR.  The defense is not as good, but they can score.

This is a program you can model yourself after.

OU is a 7.5-point favorite.  We didn't play last year, but they clocked us the two years before that.  In '21 we won when they had half the team on COVID.  Other than that, we have not won since '15 under Babers.

We will have a chance. But for sure I do not expect another blowout loss.
2023 blowout loss was after the Michigan game. Half the BG team was injured and they didn't even get a full practice week. 2022 blowout loss was with McDonald possibly concussed and the whole team in hangover mode after the wild win over Toledo. Everything 2020 and before is Jinks-ball so that is well in the mirror.
So I expect to be competitive. And would love to get out with a win. Haven't won at Peden since 2014.
