Basketball Verbal: Kaden Metheny
Extremely blessed for this opportunity! Excited for what the future holds!! #COMMITTED pic.twitter.com/gsOaI1oJR5— Kaden Metheny (@kmeth3) September 23, 2019
BG has its third basketball verbal for the 20 class...Kaden Metheny is from University High School in Morgantown, WV. There's a lot to like about this young man. He's 5'11 and a PG, something BG will have a strong need for after this next season, when both Frye and Laster graduate.
He's a very successful HS player. He led this team to the state title last year, averaged 23.5 points per game, passed 1,000 points in his junior year and, according to this story, is 3-time all-state.
From the same article..."Metheny also held Division 1 offers from Toledo, Lipscomb, Holy Cross, Akron, South Alabama, Elon, William & Mary, James Madison, Lafayette, Niagara, Rhode Island, Drexel, Western Carolina, USC-Upstate and Youngstown State."
So, two MAC teams, and some strong mid majors...Niagara, Rhode Island, etc. Other sites also mention an offer from Penn. If you google his name and look through the results, you see lots of mentions...some of them describing him as a "baller." He just looks like the gritty, tough, smart player we need at the point.
Also this:
"In 2018, Metheny showed he can compete with the top players nationally where he scored 35 points and tallied a tournament-record nine three-pointers against Cox Mill (N.C.) at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C."
Lastly, here's Kaden talking this summer about his Mother entering remission for colon cancer.
That's 3 commits for the class and I believe it represents another successful class for BG. Still has to pan out, but my impression is that BG is getting good players...the kind you can build a program around. I continue to believe we're on the track for a true men's basketball program, which is the goal. When that happens, 1968 will fall.
Welcome to the Falcons, Kaden.

I’m a big time UT fan but I like BG’s verbals for 2020
Thank you, hopefully have some great rivalry games coming up in the next few years.
Do you have a way of seeing who BG is currently recruiting?
Only if they mention being offered on twitter. Other than that, I don't.
