Urbana Preview
After a strong finish to the event in Fort Myers and a holiday break, the Falcons return home to the Stroh tomorrow to play Urbana. The Blue Knights are a DII team picked to finish 11th out of 12 in the Mountain East Conference. This one was put onto the schedule to be a win and anything else would be a shock and a disappointment. Yes, BG struggled with Notre Dame, picked to be 7th in the MEC, but this one really shouldn't be an issue.
They are 1-4 this year and actually play tonight so that will change a little by tomorrow.
Interestingly, this game is actually an exhibition for them.
They have had some big offensive games....they are scoring 82 per game but allowing 93. That is partly influenced by a 133-95 loss to West Liberty, the #3 team in DII.
They are a pretty good shooting team, at 49% and 42% from 3FG. They average just under 14 turnovers per game and they are -9 in net rebounding.
Individually, they are led by Carlas Jackson, who is scoring 17 PPG on 38% shooting, which indicates a high degree of jacking it up. He is a 6'4" SO. The second leading scorer is FR Jahmere Howze, with 16.8 points in only 23 minutes. He's 6'6" and shooting 52% while leading the team with 5 rebounds.
They are a very young team. Ten out of their 13 players are freshman and sophomores.
So we will see what happens, but this one should be a solid W for the Falcons.
