Falcons In Military Bowl, Play San Jose State

And there it is...after a day of rampant anxiety, NIU won to get into the BCS and that opened up some room and then La Tech decided to screw its players over some swampy turf battle in the Bayou and even CMU got in, so I guess we had a little bit of margin of error in the end.

BG will head to DC to play San Jose State in the Military Bowl.  This is an excellent matchup.  We obviously would have been happy to play anyone or anywhere, but this is a really nice opportunity for us and the MAC.  San Jose State had a really good season and is a very tough opponent and the Falcons will have to play very well.

It is a big relief.  This morning, I honestly thought it was 50/50 at best.  NIU was creeping up and we were starting to be relieved and when it became apparent that NIU was going to the Orange Bowl things got relaxed a little.  I wasn't crazy about playing WKU in Detroit and I thought St. Petersburg was the best location, but the trip to DC to play San Jose is a really good outcome.

• 7 MAC teams are bowling.  That's a record and awesome.
• Everyone at ESPN who is whining about NIU getting in but not putting Wisconsin or Louisville in the same category can suck on it.  In basketball, people love the underdog.  In football, they are despised.  Screw them.  BEAT Florida State.
