New Football Verbal at WR

BG has its newest verbal recruit, another three-star recruit...this one a 6'2" and 185 WR from Arlington, TX.  Arlington is the home of the Dallas Cowboys.  Prominent alums include a significant portion of the band Pantera and Cade Cunningham, who currently is underemployed as a member of the Detroit Pistons.\

He's a 3-star player.  I think you know by now that these ratings can be unreliable.  I like to include them just as a point of interest, but we've had plenty of busts at the higher rankings.  If you look at our top 9 on 247, more than half of them did not contribute at BG....meanwhile Matt Johnson and Travis Greene were 2-stars.

It is more telling, to me, that they have other offers.  In fact, that probably is what creates the overall ranking.

And sometimes you get guys with no offers who become good players.

Anyway, Tallie is 3-stars.  He had offers from UB and UT, along with Colorado, Arkansas State, Charlotte, LA Tech, North Texas, SD State, Texas State and Washington State, along with FCS offers.

As a junior, caught 37 passes for 559 yards and 2 TDs on 15.1 yards per reception in 10 games. He plays in 6A, the largest classification in TX HS football.

Welcome to the Falcons, Dilon.

On the subject of all these recruits for 2025 and beyond, I was looking at our 2025 schedule and we still only have Lafayette and Louisville as non-conference games on the schedule. That means there are still two open slots for non-conference games in 2025. With only 14 months left before the 2025 season, one would think that they need to get those games scheduled soon. If not, we only have 10 games in 2025. Have you heard any scuttlebutt on which schools might fill those two slots?

Interesting....the schedule on the BG website includes @UMass as well. I assume we are waiting to see what falls out because we will probably need one more P4 game for budget purposes.

Yup. Things got complicated because Minnesota opted to defer playing us from 2025 until 2028 and then shortly after that UMass decided to rejoin the MAC in 2025, so that UMass game no longer qualifies as a non-conference game. I suppose the MAC could vote to allow us to play 9 MAC games in 2025 to keep the UMass game. That would only give us one game to replace, but I don't know. With non-conference games being scheduled years in advance, the guys wearing ties in the Stroh had better figure out something soon...

I supopose we could play them and have it not count in the standings...they do that in other sports.
