Reds Looking at Free agent pitchers
Most people seem to favor the approach of trading because of the shortage of pitching talent available, the extreme costs Scott Boras will extract, and then foul and rotten taste of the Eric Milton debacle.
The article also says that the Reds have enough #4 or #5 starters, and are looking for an upgrade. My only comment is that if you have guys in your rotation who didn't belong in the majors--and we did--than a #4 IS AN UPGRADE.Boras reportedly is seeking a five-year, $60 million contract for Millwood, who was 9-11 last season for Cleveland and was pitching on a one-year contract because of health concerns.
Washburn and Weaver won't be as expensive.
But you can make a strong argument that neither is worth the three-year, $25 million deal the Reds offered Matt Morris.
