The Man!!! @DaeqwonPlowden is off the board with his commitment to Bowling Green today! #TeamPhillyBball #KL7E pic.twitter.com/FwzS2kqeFD— Team Philly Bball (@TeamPhillyBball) September 7, 2016
As you can see above, BG has landed its first '17 verbal commit in Daeqwon Plowdgen, who attends Mastery North Charter school in Philadelphia. He is a small forward, but at 6'4" or 6'5" and 220 pounds, he does have the size to be an inside presence. In fact, we have an assistant coach who had that kind of build.
He led his team to the 2A state championship game, where he scored 24 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks in the losing effort, earning plaudits from his coach.
He was also chosen to play in the All-City Classic. One of the stories mentions an offer from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
A couple of things. First, he comes from Philly, which is a town with basketball in its blood, which is good. Second, I believe the 2A classification is the second smallest in the state, which might have kept him under the radar. He also played AAU ball.
You know, Antwon Lillard came from a smaller division, too. If you can play ball you can play ball.
Welcome to the Falcons, Daeqwon.
