For the final time, a home opener will be played at Anderson Arena. This year's opponent is Ohio Dominican....a short preview of our opponent follows.
First, if you didn't know (and I didn't), it is a school of about 3,000 students located in Columbus in the general vicinity of the airport. They were NAIA until this year, and now are moving into NCAA D-II.
They are the Panthers, and were picked to finish last in their division of the GLIAC.
They are coached by Artie Taylor, who coached at the highly successful Wittenberg program before moving to ODU.
They were 10-17 last season, playing as independents, and did not face a D-1 opponent. They lost 2 starters and 8 letterwinners off that squad.
Their top returning scorer is Aaron Gibbs, who averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds last season. He played D-1 ball at Presbyterian and had some nice games before he transferred.
They project that they will start two players who are 6'8" or over. They have only two seniors on the roster and 8 newcomers.
They are 0-1, like the Falcons. They lost 80-63 at Southern Indiana after falling into a 15-2 hole to start the game. Gibbs had 12 points and 6 boards. The Panthers had 19 turnovers in the game.
