I am proud to announce my commitment to Bowling Green State University @CoachCampenni @CoachHedden pic.twitter.com/QOwsCkvqZe— Dontrez Brown (@BrownDontrez) June 20, 2019
BG has another football verbal, as the commits are coming in fast and furious now. Dontrez Brown is a DT from Fremont Ross HS. The Little Giant is 6'1" and 280 at the end of his junior year. He doesn't have a ranking from 247 right now, though they have been going back and giving 2 stars to guys.
Based on his twitter feed, he had offers from Air Force, WMU, Ball State, EMU, Akron, and Toledo, as well as Fordham, Georgetown and Robert Morris. If you have Georgetown and Air Force, you can figure you have a good student.
He was also first team all-state as a junior in DII. He had a big year. As a junior, he had 59 total tackles in 2018, eight TFL and 14.5 quarterback sacks along with two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two pass break-ups.
Looks like another really strong recruit for BG, which is racking up commits now.
I have this as BG's 14th verbal. We can expect a full class, due to BG's soft numbers, so there's a way to go yet. Brown is the first d-lineman BG has gotten a commit from, but I'd expect you will see more in the next 11 guys, because it is a position of severe need.
Current Position breakdown:
DL: 1
WR: 2
QB: 2
OL: 2
TE: 2
DB: 3
LB: 1
RB: 1
Or...
Offense: 9
Defense: 6
So, I'd suspect you'll see D-lineman and defensive players coming, as that is an area where we are very short of quality players.
The Georgetown and Air Force offers indicate great academics. The Toledo offer indicates awful academics. Somewhere in the middle perhaps?
