BG Football Coaching Changes

So, a couple of changes to the BG Coaching lineup for football.

Footballscoop.com is reporting that BG has hired Dejon Gomes as team's CB Coach.  His last position was as a GA at CMU.  He is (to no one's surprise) a Nebraska Cornhusker, where he led the team in interceptions and tackles.  He was also a 5th round draft pick and he played 46 games in the NFL, including for the Lions.  That's presumably how he connected with CMU and then the Nebraska connection gets him to the Pelini staff.

Football scoop says he is our 10th assistant but I only count 9.  Perhaps I missed something along the way.

Strength Coach Billy Yates, meanwhile, is leaving to go TO the Detroit Lions as an assistant line coach.  To no one's surprise, he had previously been an assistant strength coach at Texas Tech.  (He played 8 years in the NFL as well).  That's a pretty important position to fill and kind of late to have to do it, so we'll keep an eye on that.
