Blade Reports Jinks Bringing QB With Him

The Blade reported some pretty big news for the Falcon football program.  While Coach Jinks is in the process of importing wholesale the state of Texas up to Bowling Green, he is bringing one very important import, and that is QB Davis Webb.

You can link to see more about Webb, but the idea is that he would graduate, come to BG and be immediately eligible and have one year to play.  Webb started plenty for Texas Tech, including as a true FR, and his progress was only derailed by an injury.  At one point he rotated with a guy we know as Baker Mayfield.

Anyway, he also knows what we would assume Coach Jinks wants to do on offense.

It is a big deal because the assumption is that Matt Johnson won't be back.  Matt would have to apply for a 6th year which he would not hear about for a while and which would leave him probably unsure if he would be draft eligible.  Furthermore, he has led his team to a conference title both years he was a starter, he was conference player of the year and rewrote Big Ben's records during this year.  Not sure there's a lot more to prove at BG.

Anyway, that was leaving a hole in the BG QB position.  Without any new players, the competition would have been between James Knapke and r-FR James Morgan.  I had always assumed Morgan was the future at QB, but this would give him another year to adjust, if it works out like this.  Anyway, QB is vital to this offensive set and Webb would certainly be an interesting and potentialy productive addition to the mix.
