His name is Jamir Andrews. He has played one season at Sheridan College of Wyoming, which is a JUCO.
He is a 6'2" shooting guard who was pretty successful as a high school and JUCO player. He is originally from Dublin, CA. Dublin is in the East part of the Bay Area. In HS, his team was 27-7 and he scored 19 PPG, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He had a number of honors, including All-State as a senior.
You may have already seen the big news...he could be something that BG has not had in a while, which is a true scoring 2G.
Here is how the coach at Sheridan described him when he signed:
“Jamir has a special ability to score the ball in several different ways, and is extremely hard to guard because of his versatility, strength and his ability to both shoot and get to the rim.”Like the sound of that?
At Sheridan the team was 27-6 and averaged like 87 PPG. They played a bunch of guys, so even though Jamir was a starter, he averaged only 22 minutes and 12 PPG. That would average out to over 16 PPG if he had played 30. He is a 40% 3FG and 82% FT shooter. He was over 20 points six times during the season.
It will be interesting to see how his second year at Sheridan goes. For now, welcome to the Falcons, Jamir.
