It is rough.  This is their second year at the FBS level and they have lost 15 of their first 16 games.  When they moved up, they weren't even a great FCS team (unlike, say, when Marshall joined the MAC), and they have struggled accordingly.  Their only win is over last year.  They lost to FCS Maine and have been outscored 130-28.

16, which is a very, very young team.  Only 6 on the offensive side of the ball.

Tajae Sharp is #20 in the nation in receptions per game.

What is their turnover ratio?

They are +1.  Believe it or not.

Offense:

How is their QB Play?

It is not that good.  They started the year with Mike Wegzyn, but he was struggling badly so they switched to AJ Doyle after the Maine loss but he doesn't exactly seem to be locking the job down either.  Even Doyle only has an efficiency rating of 109, which is not in the Top 10 in this 12 team league.

What was their scoring and yards per play?

They have 7 points per game and 4.0 yards per play, both of which are in the middle of the nation.  They have the second-to-worst offense in FBS, based on scoring.

Can they run the ball?

Can we agree?

No.  At 3.2 yards per rush, they are among the 20 worst teams in the nation.

Do they pass the ball?

Not really.  They are the 113th ranked passing team.  Doyle has a decent completion percentage (63.9%) but he's throwing crazy safe passes.  He averages only about 8 yards per completion.

How is their run/pass balance?

They run on 46% of their plays, which is pretty even for a team that doesn't run well and is always behind.

Do they convert on 3rd Down?

They are not too bad.  41%.

Do they score in the red zone?

Well, when they get there they are very good at 5.6 points per trip.  However, they have only 5 trips in four games.

Do they protect the quarterback?

They have allowed 3 sacks in 137 attempts, which is 2.1% and pretty good.  Play selection could be helping.

Defense:

Topline: Scoring and yards per play.

They are allowing 32.5 points per game and 7.6 yards per play, both of which are, to quote Charles Barkely, "Turrible."

Do they defend the run effectively?

They give up 6.5 yards per rush.

Can they be passed on?

Yeah.  They are 7th worst in the nation in pass defense efficiency.  They give up 67% completions and over 15 yards per catch--just unheard of numbers.  Teams have only passed 86 times on them, I assume due to the ease of running.

Do they get off the field on 3rd down?

Almost never, in fact.  They give up 60%, second worst in all of the FBS.

Do they defend in the red zone?

They are actually pretty good.  They allow 3.5 points per trip.

Do they pressure the QB?

Just a guy headed to

They have 2 sacks in 86 passing attempts, which is not good.

Punting?

11th in the MAC in net punting.

Punt Return?

They have a good returner.  Trey Dudley-Giles, though he is better on kickoffs.

They are 0-3 on FGs for the year.  They had an open competition for this week, which we, as Falcon fans know, can portend no good.

This is just a very poor football team.  They might be worse than Murray State on offense.  BG should be able to move the ball on them and then stop them when the Minutemen have the ball.  Honestly, anything could happen, but BG needs to win this game pretty easily.  You can't ever forget the possibility of an upset, but this should be a one-sided matchup.
