They rank the conferences, and have the MAC rated as the top non-AQ conference...ahead of the MWC, WAC, Sun Belt, and C-USA, in that order.
Obviously, the big loser here is the C-USA, who used to be the top non-AQ conference and you didn't really talk about it. They are 7-33 in FBS non-conference games this year and have no ranked teams.
Anyway, here's what they said.
They get the boost not just for Ohio's continued unbeaten streak but the recent push from Northern Illinois and Toledo. The MAC now has three bowl-eligible teams and a very enticing conference title race to follow during the weeknight MACtion down the stretch.I have written plenty about the MAC's futility over the years, so it is only fair to put this up. I do think the conference is getting stronger--on the backs of an excellent crop of coaches, as mentioned in the roundtable--and look forward to a very productive bowl season.
