We haven't done one of these in a while..I think since last year. Anyway, here are some updates on three of BG's football verbals. (Note, not all of our players get a lot of pub, especially on the O-Line. We'll keep a close eye on the all-conference/district/state teams that should be coming out over the next month).
Just a status update...the recruiting sites say BG has 6 verbals, and they aren't counting the K Tate. Coach has said we have in the neighborhood of 9. Falcon fans should keep in mind that we are not looking at a full class like the last two years, for the simple reason that BG doesn't have that many seniors departing. So, we're probably looking at something in the mid-teens, recruit wise.
Also, not every coach believes in getting a lot of early verbals. BG did nicely with a few late signees last year, including Boo Boo Gates.
If you are looking for background info on these guys, they are all listed in the bar on the left.
Zach Colvin--
Zach is from the Chicago area, a DE, where he attends Minooka HS. His team advanced to the state quarterfinals. He missed most of two games with a concussion this year.
Julian Campenni--
Another D-lineman, Julian Campenni is from PA. They are heading into the state playoffs with a big win over their key rival in a game in which Campenni had 10 tackles and a sack. He had 55 tackles and 5 TFL for the season. His Coach says he built his offense and defense around him.
Matt Johnson---
Johnson is a QB from McDevitt HS in PA. He led his team to a 8-2 record and a big victory over their arch rival, a game in which Johnson had 161 yards in total offense and ran for a TD. (His teammate is RB Jameel Poteat, who is going to Pitt). In his last home game, he 208 passing yards for 2 TDs.
