ICSTR--Special Teams Lone Highlight of Rocket Game
The ICSTR is winding up its work for the year. As the body looked at the UT game, they saw a game where only the special teams outperformed the opponent--certainly not the offense and defense. The Falcons were +12 for the day, which is actually the best game since the start of the Clawson era, eclipsing last year's Rocket game. Beyond that, BG is not +25 for the reason and that almost half of that was in the UT game.
Obviously, you have a touchdown, which is worth +6, and added a touchback, a blocked extra point, a 2-point conversion defended, two punts inside the Rocket 10, one punt inside the 10, and a kickoff return to the 39.
The only negative plays were a penalty on a kickoff return that started at the 12, another kickoff return to the 18, and a missed 37 yard FG.
Beyond the plays mentioned for BG, UT had an 8 yard punt and a punt inside the 20.
So, while almost everything was bad in the UT game, the special teams were dong everything they could to get BG points and create field position advantages.
