This week's opponent....last week

For the second straight week, BG will face a team that lost a game in the last seconds.  This week, however, that loss had several generations of submission and second-class status ladled on top of it.  Marshall had WVU playing in Huntington and they had them beat.  It was 20-6 with 6 minutes left or so.  Marshall had never beat WVU...in that state, this is the equivalent of OU leading OSU.  You could just feel years of frustration coming to an end.

And then it didn't.  WVU rallied to tie the game in regulation and kick a FG in the first over time.  Marshall did not move the ball, and their kicker missed a FG that has to be the closest FG I had ever seen.  If it missed, it was by inches.  Or an inch.  In fact, I thought he had made it.

Inches were enough and WVU ripped Marshall's heart right out of their chest and ate it sitting on the big green M.

Figuratively speaking.

When I thought Marshall was going to win, I kind of thought it was good for us, because BG now becomes a trap game.  I was still rooting for Marshall because, well, they're Marshall, and I don't root for them to win unless they are playing Toledo.

I don't know how they will react next week.  They could come in confident, angry, and hungry, or they could have troubling summoning that kind of intensity two weeks in a row.

On a Troy note, they went to Oklahoma State and led most of the way before losing by 3.  OK State is not strong this year, but it was still a BCS game on the road.  In fact, they scored 38 on the Cowboys and 30 on us.
