Don’t ever try to tell Martin what he can’t do. Two years after making the mock trial team and shortly before leaving to play football at Bowling Green, not giving up in the face of adversity was the theme of Martin’s graduation speech, which a panel of Grand Blanc faculty selected him to deliver.
In his speech, Martin gave the simple example of waking up in the morning and going to school rather than sleeping late. But he also experienced a much more personal and significant setback — the death of his grandfather before his junior year.
“He was my biggest motivation throughout my whole life,” Martin said.
When Martin runs, he thinks, “One more lap, do this one for my granddad."

Gabe Martin Profile on mlive.com
This is the kind of story I love to read. BG freshman Gabe Martin is profiled. Using his late grandfather as a role model, he plans to use his BG education as a springboard to a career in the law. He has goals--athletic and academic. Read this, Falcon fans. And be proud he chose our school.
