Last year, the MAC won 37.5% of its D1 games out of conference. Things are better this year, with the MAC now winning 44% of its D1 games out of conference. Accordingly, the MAC has moved from the 19th ranked conference to the 15th ranked conference. 44% needs to be viewed in the context that many or most of these games are played on the road, which makes it tough to generate big numbers.
Other notes:
The MAC has one win over the Big East, which is their only win over a BCS conference and the same number the conference had last year.

Last season, the MAC was 10-44 against the top 10 conferences, and this year they are 13-39, which is a pretty decent improvement.
Last season, the MEAC (#13) was the best conference the MAC had a winning % against. This year, it is #10 CAA (not counting the 1 win against the Mountain West).
The MAC is 19-1 against the bottom six conferences.
The MAC lost the season series with the Horizon conference, which always seems to me to be a conference we should be able to compete with.
The conference does have a winning record against the Summit Conference, unlike last season.
