It was what it should have been....a romp over a D3 opponent on our home floor. I was not there, but here are some observations based on a review of the stats and quotes...
- Coach Dakich says we are improved from the Capital game. That's important, because he normally rips the team after these D3 games.
- After five minutes, we were only up 14-9 (a slow start, according to Coach). From there, we went 38-17 by halftime, and then won the second half by 11 more points.
- We shot well again (56.3%, with 60.5% in the first half), and held Denison to a FG% of 31.7%.
- Nobody on our side played more than 26 minutes (Moten). We put 11 players into the game, with four of them playing in their first game as a Falcon.
- Ryne Hamblet is shaping up early to be a big key for this team. He started and had 8 points and 8 assists. If he can run the point, at 6'5", we instantly become a better team.
- Brian Moten is another key. A well-pedigreed player once recruited to the ACC, if Moten can be a contributor, this team also instantly gets better due to pressure being taken off Samarco.
- Ryan Sims started and scored 12 points. If he contributes as a FR, we're better right away.
- We talk about our inside game, but we started a three guard line up, with Dusan (Dusan!) at the only forward position. Marschall, Polk and Larson came off the bench and didn't play too much.
On the other hand, they are picked to be fourth IN THEIR DIVISION in the Sun Belt Conference.
And women's bowling is a varsity sport there. I swear to freaking god.
