Falcons Cover Spread
This is going to be a short comment. That is because we were out of town, and I did not see or listen to the game. I picked up the score late Saturday night--it was as I expected. In fact, the inside numbers are even better. Only down 21-7 entering the fourth quarter, we moved the ball better than I ever thought we would, with AT really having the kind of game that I think we know he can have. He is starting to come around.
AZZers seem happy with the performance. We made tackles, the single thing that would put us on the road to being competitive in our own conference. It sounds like our young players are showing some stuff.
At the end of the day, though, I care about winning the MAC and making a bowl game, and for all of that, Saturday was an exhibition game. Back to the MAC schedule. Toledo lost again, and with two losses (this one at home), are looking mortal in the West. OU beat WMU, adding some luster to our victory the week before. Let's hope we can bring a strong performance against EMU next week, and have UT beat Kent. Then, let's hope OU is for real and beats them as well.
Then, we need to put together our best game of the season and win at CMU.
At the end of the day, an East title is pretty unlikely. But nothing is going to form in the MAC, and no one is looking to run away with it. So, every week you aren't out of it is a week you have the chance to be the last team standing.
Mostly, I hope that we are seeing a team that hit bottom against Kent and has steadily improved the last two weeks...lasting improvement that can be built on. At the end of the year, that's what we want to see, at a minimum. And then ready to challenge for the title next year.
